Compost Cwtch – Sarn

Transforming unused land into a hub for sustainability in Bridgend.

The Compost Cwtch in Sarn represents everything Greenspace SOS stands for: taking a neglected patch of land and turning it into a vibrant community asset. Located in the heart of Sarn, Bridgend, this project was designed not just as a garden, but as an educational hub for sustainable living.

Key Project Outcomes:

• Volunteer Engagement: Over 15 local residents actively involved in the build.

• Infrastructure: Created 6 large community growing beds and a dedicated composting facility.

• Education: Delivered 3 workshops for local schools on biodiversity and food waste reduction.

The Story Before Greenspace SOS stepped in, this site was overgrown and inaccessible. Working closely with the Sarn community, we cleared the site and installed accessible raised beds. The "Cwtch" (a safe, hugging space) now serves as a focal point for neighbours to meet, share skills, and grow their own produce.
